Sue Ferris, Freelance Photographer
As a fledgling photographic assistant and aspiring photographer I was discovered by the creative director for high end Australian department store chain David Jones. Within a matter of weeks I was promoted to principal in-house photographer and studio manager for their internal Advertising Department for this iconic Sydney store. Over 17 years of photographic work I have built a reputation with corporate clients as a quality commercial photographer, be it food, advertising or lifestyle, with an eye for capturing a magazine look or crafting an advertising vision. I know photography, its instinctive - light and colour, shade and texture, subject and object. I revel in looking at every shot with a fresh approach, to capture an evocative image. I love the dynamic of collaboration, mixing in with other people: client, stylist, art director, to get the best shot of the highest standard. My skills are versatile and constantly evolving. I appreciate a brief and understand a budget. I happily mix photographic skill with digital expertise and an enduring love of great, on-brand photography. While my first passion remains photography, I've also diversified into film, shooting, producing and editing videos for a number of corporate clients. This is an exciting and challenging field which utilises all my skills, experience and versatility, providing my clients with the opportunity to shoot both video and still photography concurrently and to the highest level. Some of my clients: Advertising : Qantas, Woolworths, Ikea, Sydney Turf Club, Nutrimetics, Big W, Dyson, Nestle, Target, Sheridan, Aldi, Everdure, Masters.
